COMBS , A.V. - age 74, of Vonore, Tenn., passed away at Blount Memorial Hospital on April 4, 1999. He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Combs was a veteran of the Army Air Force in which he served in WWII and Korean Wars. He also served in the Air National Guard. While serving his country, he received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with one Silver Star and two Overseas Service Bars. He is preceded in death by his parents, A.V., Sr. and Hattie Gobble Combs ; daughter, Sherry Ann Combs ; son, Ricky Lynn Combs ; and brother, Emert Combs . Survivors are: wife of 18 years, Nancy L; daughter, Terry Combs of Knoxville; sister, Mary V. Hodge of Rutledge; sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and George Ross Clapp of Knoxville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Joan Combs and T. Ralph and Elva Lorena Combs , all of Rutledge; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Maness and Rev. Don Cunningham officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith Funeral Home in Rutledge.
