  [S24] The Newport Plain Talk, (http://www.newportplaintalk.com), 20 Sep 2003. Mrs. Bernice Josey, age 85, of Del Rio, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 20, 2003, due to drowning. She was born in 1918 and raised in Indianola, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hunter Josey; her mother, her father, and her brother. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Vickie Josey, of the home in Del Rio; grandson, Jason Josey, of Greeneville, TN; step-granddaughters, Brooke and Nikki Stokely, and great-grandson, Teddy Fine, of the home. She will be sadly missed by a host of friends, including special friends Howard and Alice Haney and Jimmy and Brenda Kirkpatrick. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Starkeville, MS. Interment will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Starkeville, MS. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Welch Funeral Home. Local arrangements by Costner-Maloy.
