Charlsie Shelton , 99, of Newport, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2009, at her home. She was of the Baptist faith. She was the last surviving child of Joseph and Penelope Campbell. Her brothers were Willie, Jake, Boyd, and Ralph. Her sisters were Bonnie, Anna Mae, and Ethel. Also, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Clarence Shelton , and a daughter and son-in-law Betty Jean and Frank Gorman. Survivors include her children and their families: Clarence and Mary Shelton , Norma and Everette Smith, Frank and Barbara Shelton , James and Martha Shelton , Lynn and Gary Miller, all of Newport; George (Pat) Shelton and Shirley of Jefferson City; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 23, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009, at Union Cemetery with Bro. John Bugg officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to their church or their favorite charity. Friends may register at www.newportfunerals.com .
