Russell Roysden, age 82, a resident of Coalfield, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at home.
Mr. Roysden was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Campbell County. He lived most of his life in Devonia and Oliver Springs.
Mr. Roysden was a member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church in Devonia. He retired from the Blue Diamond Coal Company as a heavy equipment operator with McCall Enterprises.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Mary Ann Hicks Roysden; by children: Etta Ruth Matheson, Evelen Faye Killensworth, Bruce Wayne Roysden and James Franklin Roysden; by his parents; Edward and Rosie Mae Ward Roysden; by brothers, Eli Roysden, Clais Roysden and Lester Ward; by grandchildren: Don "Bo" Phillips Jr., and Melissa and Jerry Ray Carroll; and by a son-in-law, Donald Olson.
He is survived by daughters, Rena Olson of Harriman, Edna Hayes of Radcliff, Ky., Margaret Westmoreland and husband Bobby of Norris, Linda White and husband Charles of Coalfield, Billie Cornell and husband Rick of Oliver Springs, Betty Griggs and husband Rick of Oliver Springs, and Anna Curtain and husband Allen of Coalfield; sons, Glenn Roysden and wife Gail of Lake City, Jerry Roysden and wife Teresa of Oliver Springs, Gary Lynn "Joe" Roysden of Coalfield, and John Paul Roysden of Coalfield; 43 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, John Matheson of Vine Grove, Ky.; sister-in-law, Josephine Lowe of Knoxville; brothers-in-law, Jim Hicks and wife Sue of Clinton, and Millard Hicks of Knoxville; and special friend, Euvene Randolph of Briceville.
He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends, and a special nephew, "Pee Wee."
The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 18, and Tuesday, Dec. 19, between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Murl Phillips and the Rev. Don Daugherty officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at the Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery in Anderson County.
Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
