(February 6, 1927 - August 25, 2009) William Probe Wood, age 82, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Baptist Convalescent Center. He was preceded in death by his son Steve Wood; parents, George and Maude Wood; brothers, Paul, Harry and Pete Wood; and sister, Lucille Liebrock. He is survived by his wife Edith Woods Wood of Newport; son and daughter-in-law, David and Cindy Wood of White Pine; daughter, Amy Wood, of Newport; grandchildren, Hope Stacy, Gatlinburg, Logan Wood, Newport, Casey Welty, Ashlee Roberts, both White Pine, Jake Green and Nolan Green both of Newport; eight great grandchildren; also several nieces nephews and other family and friends. Funeral Services will be held 8:00 pm Friday, August 28, 2009 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor David Wood officiating,and Eulogy by Buddy Woods. Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 29, 2009 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
