Rev. Carl George Hill, 82, resident of 410 Lynbrook Dr. died Wednesday afternoon in the High Point Regional Hospital following declining health of 1 year.
Rev. Hill was born Feb. 14, 1923 in Newport, Tenn. A son of Albert and Hattie Hall Hill.
He had been a resident of High Point and Archdale since 1978 and was a retired mechanic. Rev. Hall was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II and a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church. Rev. Hill was an ordained deacon and minister. He was married to Lola Mae Williams who preceded him in death in 1995.
Surviving are 4 daughters; Mrs. Jimmy (Ila Lea) Snow of Archdale, Mrs. Williams (Diana) Burell of Monroeville, Alabama, Ms. Regenia Smith and friend Craig Wool of Hampton, Va., and Mrs. Jim (Elaine) Connor of High Point; 2 sons, Rev. A.C. Hill and wife Audrey of 410 Lynbrook Dr. and Jarvis Hill and wife, Becki of High Point; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisers, Martha Trantham, Wilma Ferguson and husband Archie, and Beulah Dawson and husband Billy all of Poquoson, Va., Betty Ann Hall, Lee Esta Perry, Mrs. Ruby Braswell and husband Frank, Loretta McGaha, and Yvonne Rollins all of Tennessee, and Mrs. Dorothy Ledford of Fines Creek, N.C. Rev. Hill was preceded in death by 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the New Beginnings Baptist Church by the Rev. Gerald Biugham and Rev. Jason Brown. A second service will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the New Prospect Baptist Church in Hartford, Tenn. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale and at the church on Monday from 12 until 1:30 p.m.
Interment will follow in the Hill Family Cemetery in Hartford.
