(February 26, 1913 - May 5, 2011) Elizabeth Lane “Lizzie” Dawson, age 98, formerly of the Glendale community, died May 5, 2011 at the Baptist Health Care Center, Lenoir City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuard Dawson; parents James Prime and Sarah Martin Lane; sisters Lucy Lane, Eliza Bible, Grace Turner, Katherine Wisecarver, Medra Susong and Willie Anne Honeycutt; brothers Glen, Holland, J.P. and Ernest Lane. She is survived by her son William “Billy” Dawson (wife Faye); daughters Myra Carroll (husband Charles) and Doris Valeda Shankle (husband Bob); brothers Robert and Connie Lane; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Brown Funeral Home, Newport, followed by a sunset graveside service at the Glendale Methodist Church Cemetery at approximately 6:00 PM with Rev. Ken Sharp officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Baptist Health Care Center, 700 Williams Ferry Road, Lenoir City, TN 37771.
