STOOKSBURY, MARY SHUBERT - of Lenoir City passed away Wed. morning, Sept. 20, 2000, at Ft. Sanders Park West Hospital after a long battle with cancer and osteoporosis. Mary was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City and an honorary member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Clinton, where she was a member of many years. She belonged to Clinch Valley Chapter Order of Eastern Star in Andersonville. Mary worked as a secretary at O.R.N.L. for 22 plus years. She loved her home and family. Before she became ill, she loved the beach and loved to travel. Mary was preceded in death by parents, Joe (Buck) Shubert and Grace Akins Shubert; sister, Saranelle Shubert; brother, Edward Shubert. Survived by her loving husband of 48years, Kyle Stooksbury; daughter & son in law, Jane & Jim Slaughter of Lenoir City; beloved granddaughter who was her pride & joy, Sarah Elizabeth Slaughter; sister and brother in law, Judy & Waynes Howell of Lenoir City; brother & sister in law, Benny & Fannie Rhea Shubert of Lenoir City; sisters in law, Ruth Human of Norris & Dorothy Heth & husband, Chester of Beaufort, SC; several beloved nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 p.m. Fri. with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C. Mark Gooden officiating. Graveside services 11 a.m. Sat. in the Lake View Cemetery. Pallbearers, Mike, Mark & Tommy Shubert, David Howell, Ron Lawrence and Gary Slaughter. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Holston Home for Children. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City is serving the Stooksbury family.
