Schwanbeck-Tipton engagement

Mr. Carl Arnold Schwanbeck, 85, of 251 Boyd Mountain Road, Adairsville, passed away Tuesday morning, June 6, 2006 at the residence.
Mr. Schwanbeck was born in Williamsport, Pa., July 30, 1920, son of the late Robert and Caroline Bingel Schwanbeck. As a veteran of the U. S. Navy, he served with the Construction Battalion during World War II. Mr. Schwanbeck graduated from Penn State University in 1948 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a nuclear cryogenic engineer at Lockheed where he retired after 15 years as manager over the Nuclear Reactor Department of NASA, Sandusky, Ohio, and also was a self-employed livestock farmer. He was a member of Adairsville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Feerrar Schwanbeck, of Adairsville, to whom he was married Dec. 29, 1945; four sons, Carl (Linda) Schwanbeck, Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., Dale (Susan) Schwanbeck of Griffin, Dr. Dan (Reatha) Schwanbeck of Adairsville and Craig (Lisa) Schwanbeck of Rome; a daughter, Betsy (Jackie) Blalock of Adairsville; a brother, Robert C. Schwanbeck, Jr. of Ohio; a sister, Blanche Reaph of Surrey, VA.; nine grandchildren, Kelly and Lindsay Schwanbeck, Andrew, John, and Anna Schwanbeck, Jeremy and Nathan Schwanbeck, Cathy and Brian Schwanbeck; a great-grandchild, Alexis Schwanbeck; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Adairsville Baptist Church with Rev. Harold E. Feerrar, Jr. and Rev. Charles Good officiating. Interment will follow in the Schwanbeck Family Cemetery, Adairsville, with full military honors. The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 3 p.m. until the funeral hour.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Barton Funeral Home.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, is in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Carl A. Schwanbeck.
