U.S. Veteran Bobby Gene Dyke, age 58, of Maryville, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 17, 2007, after a courageous 4 ˝ year battle with a rare lung disease. His unique ways touched many people’s lives, just as others touched his. He will always be remembered for the goodness he showed in his life, and as the most wonderful husband and dad in the world. He was of the Baptist faith and always had a positive attitude. His favorite things in his life, besides his family was hunting and fishing. He will be missed by all. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company after 30 years. He served in the United States Army at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, and was stationed in Eustus, Virginia from September 1968 through 1970. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lela Dykes; brother, Jack Dyke; nephew, Todd Dykes; and sisters, Jennie and Joan Dykes. Bobby is survived by a wonderful family and many friends; wife, Lois Dyke; son, Robbie Dyke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lewis and Carmey Dyke of Maryville, Ray Dyke of Greenback, Blaine and Betty Dykes of Alcoa, Bill and Denise Dyke of Decatur, TN, Jimmy and Karen Dykes of Maryville, and David Dykes of Alcoa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Essie and Bill Word of Orlando, Florida, Violet and David Ledger of Knoxville, and Kathy and Don Matoy of Englewood, TN; and many special nieces and nephews. A special thanks to all of his friends that he worked with at the Aluminum Company. Funeral service will be held 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Miller Funeral Home Cedar Chapel, Rev. Don Matoy officiating. Interment service will be 1:00 PM Friday at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
