WHITEHEAD, JOHN C. - age 58, of Maryville, passed away Monday afternoon, April 29, 2002, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Knob Road Baptist Church, and preceded in death by parents, Willie King and Della Mae Whitehead; brothers, Thurman and Charles Whitehead; sister, Gene Garland and son, Joseph Whitehead. Survivors: wife, Cindy Whitehead; son and daughter-in-law, John C. Whitehead II and Amanda Whitehead of Maryville; son, Eddie Tarver of Maryville; daughters, Tina Whitehead of Harriman and Stepheny Stephens of Tallassee; four grandchildren; sisters, Selma, Dollie and Gracie; brothers, Morris, Harold, Alfred, Pete , Will, Keith, and James Whitehead; mother-in-law, Katherine Vance; brothers-in-law, Buddy, Arthur, and Mark Vance; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Vanhoy, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at Knob Road Baptist Church, Rev. Jerry Little officiating. The body will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. Wednesday until 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the church, then will be taken to Chilhowee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery "Red Top" for the 2:00 p.m. interment service.
