Fancher, age 80, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and a member of the church choir. He was also a veteran, having served in the United States Army during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Dean Fancher of Newport; sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Brenda Fancher of Newport, Terry and Beth Fancher of Newport, Jeff and Velva Fancher of Vilas, NC, Houston and Cathy Fancher of Boone, NC; step brother, Paul Hammond, Jr. and his wife, Lora of White Pine, TN; grandchildren, Josh, Rayanne, Megan, Malerie, Murphy, Morgan, Hayden and Ethan; one great-grandchild, Steele. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2005 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Freddrick Long officiating. Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2005 in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
