NELSON, WILLIAM GLEN - age 83, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at the Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Glen was retired from Scovill, and was a former employee of Lenoir City Car Works. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, with the 238th Engineers Division, where he was awarded five bronze stars. Preceded in death by parents, Lant and Laura Collins Nelson sister and brother-in-law Juanita and Cliff Melton sister, Lennis Nelson Glass, and brother-in-law, James Hair, Jr. Survived by wife of 62 years, Rachel Babb Nelson son, Bill Nelson and wife, Sammye Nelle beloved grandsons, Burke Nelson and wife, Sharon and Wayne Nelson, all of Lenoir City sister, Ruth Hair of Lenoir City brother, Lynn Nelson and wife, Jo Ann of Lenoir City, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at their convenience at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Lenoir City Cemetery for graveside services with Rev. Mark Gooden officiating. Full Military Honors will be conferred by V.F.W. Post #5150 and American Legion Posts #120 and #70. The family would like to give a special thanks to Jere and Shirley Geer, Joe Malone, Willie Joe Smalley, Mary Maples and Tom Riggle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests, memorials be made to "Join The Journey", Central United Methodist Church, 201 B Street, Lenoir City, TN 37771, or to the charity of their choice.
