(April 30, 1933 - April 11, 2015) Jerry Greene, born April 30, 1933 in Cocke County, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015. He lived his life in the Ravens Branch Community of Cocke County. He married Mary Jo Arrington. He was a Christian and attended both Ravens Branch Church of Christ and the Newport Church of Christ. He was a farmer, bus driver, sawmill operator, and logger. After retirement, he trimmed boxwoods and sold the clippings. Jerry and Mary Jo raised six children. They both were strong members of the community. They were trustworthy and always willing to help family, friends, and strangers. Jerry and Mary Jo taught their children that following God and Jesus Christ was the most import thing in life. They taught to work hard and keep your word by doing what you say you will do and to love one another and others. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Jo Arrington Greene; parents, Swan and Carrie Greene; brothers, Hubert, Nelson, and Scott Greene; sisters, Ruth Greene Booth and Amber Greene Holly. He is survived his children, Anthony Greene and wife Gladys of Newport, Kaye Gilbert and husband Bobby of Greeneville, TN, Rex Greene of the Ravens Branch Community, Diane Greene of Greeneville, TN, Carrie Johnson and husband David of Greeneville, TN, Luciana Atkins and Husband, Benny of Sevierville, TN; grandchildren, Daniel Greene, Jacob Greene, Kevin Gilbert, Christy Gilbert, Jennings, Nathanael Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Chandler Atkins, and Beverly Atkins; great grandchildren, Alyssa Gilbert and Aiden Jennings; brother Seldon Greene of Easley, South Carolina; many sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and special friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Tommy Golmon and Minister John Daniels officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm -2:00 pm Tuesday prior to the services. Pall Bearers will be Jacob Greene, Bobby Gilbert, Kevin Gilbert, Chandler Atkins, and Bobby Hales.
