NANCE, ORA VONTELLA LAY - age 86, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, April 24, 1999, at National Health Care. Member of Knoxville Primitive Baptist and Rose Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Former employee of Standard Knitting Mills and retired from General Motors. Preceded in death by: husbands, Clarence (Jack) Lay and Henry Nance; sons, Jack L. and Robert C. Lay; brother, Lee Waggoner; sisters, Inez Keck and Dephia Campbell. Survivors: son, Clyde H. Lay, Sr. of Knoxville; daughter, Janice E. Smith of Annapolis, Md.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Newman, Bonnie James, Mary Brock; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rose Chapel, Elder John Robbins officiating. Interment in Lynnhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
