Eleanor Bertha Calfee Chambers joined her heavenly Father on March 29, 2015. Born August 25, 1927, she was 87 years old. One of eleven children, she was the daughter of parents, John Henry Calfee and Elizabeth Carver Calfee. Preceding her in death were brothers, Garrett, Dillard, Elbert, Fred, Ruel, Bartley and John and sisters, Bea, Shirley, and Mettie, she being the last surviving sibling. She married the late Vaughn Chambers on June 6, 1945 after he returned from World War II. They had three children, Brenda Ellison (Wayne), John Chambers (Tammy), and Jennifer Lamb (Russell) who they raised on a farm along the banks of the French Broad River in the Bybee-Rankin Community. She loved being a housewife and a mother and provided many meals after coming out of working fields of tabacco to family and friends. She raised her family on faith and was an active member of McCowan’s Creek Church of God. She had many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to enrich her life. Brenda’s (Wayne) children are Keenan (Deide) and Sean (Emily Eillison. Keenan’s (Deide) children are Mark (Shelby), Luke, Jacab, Gideon and Noah Ellison. Sean (Emily) have two sons, Evan and Emerson. John (Tammy) have four children Micael (Staci) have Katie (Chris Robertson), Courtney Crowell and Matthew Crowell. Michael’s three sons are Greyson, Nathan, and Colin. Jennifer’s (Russell Lamb) son and daughter are Thomas and Caroline. Eleanor leaves behind also many precious nieces and nephews that truly loved and basked in the warmth of family. In the last few months, she made new friends at Brookdale of Newport and was especially happy to love Wilma Wilson as well as others at that facility.
