Edith M. Carver, 71, of 456 Ann Circle Rd., Newport, went to be with her Lord Wednesday morning, August 28, 2002 at her residence.
Mrs. Carver was retired from Electro-Voice after 26 years and was a member of West End Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Micher and Mary (Gunter) Owenby; five sisters: Lilly Owenby, Margaret McMahan, Dorothy Combs, Gona Owenby, and Lucille Owenby; three brothers: Elmer, Arvin, and Earl Owenby.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Oscar Carver, of the home; children: Ray and wife, Carolyn Carver, of Jupiter, Florida; Thelma Baxter, of Newport; Gary and wife, Gail Carver, of Newport; Debbie and husband, Jackie Wylie, also of Newport; one sister and brother-in-law: Brenda and Roger Winstead, of Morristown; three brothers and one sister-in-law: Gene Owenby, of Newport; Ralph Hill, of Cosby; and Roy and Sherry Hill, of Cosby; nine grandchildren: Brian, Allen, Gary, and Olivia Carver, Jake and Chelsea Wylie, Gloria Hoekstra, Cindy McGaha, Jennifer Huskey; five great-grandchildren: Hannah and Ben Carver, Logan Huskey, Jackson and Roberta Hoekstra; also surviving are special sisters-in-law, Reva Owenby and Althie Sauceman; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home Thursday, August 29, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Leon Large officiating. Graveside service will be conducted Friday, August 30, 2002 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens at 10 a.m.
Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mrs. Edith Carver.
