Cameron, Steve “The Killer” – age 60 of Knoxville was born September 19, 1948 and lost his six year battle with cancer at home on Tuesday, June 9, 2009. He was an avid bow hunter and loved fishing and being in the outdoors. He especially enjoyed the many hours spent on the farm with special friends Ronnie and Debbie French. He was a retired foreman from the line department at KUB after 35 years of service. He served in the US army in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by mother, Imogene Cameron; father-in-law, J.C. Jenkins; and beloved dog, Comanche. Survived by high school sweetheart and wife of 40 years, Dianne Cameron; son, Chris Cameron and wife Angie; grandsons, Dylan and Nathan; and one “grandson” on the way, baby dog, Sadie; father, Earl Cameron and wife; brothers, Gary and Neal Cameron; sister, Robin Eslinger and husband Roger; mother-in-law, Maxine Jenkins; sister-in-law, Janet Fraizer; extended family, Ronnie and Debbie French; special aunt, Jean; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A special thanks to the many family and friends that have been there for us during the length of Steve's illness. Also, another special thank you to The Youngins from KUB for many meals and good times. Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Thursday, June 11, 2009, in the chapel at Bridges Funeral Home with Minister Helen Shaw officiating and a eulogy given by Jim Northern. Family and friends will meet 10:15 AM Friday at Bridges Funeral Home and proceed to Asbury Cemetery for an 11:00 AM committal service. Pallbearers: Ronnie French, James R. Shields, John Mynatt, Doug Collins, Lewis Thompson, Keith Patterson, John Umbarger, and John Sawyer. Honorary pallbearers: J.D. Grandstaff, Ronnie Johnson, John Reynolds, Walter Reynolds, Brent French, Jim Northern, Johnnie Goins, Paul Mynatt, Bryan Beeler, Larry Huggins, Dustin Trout, and Charlie Finger. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Sand Branch United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 865-523-4999.
