Mrs. Ellen Louise Valentine, age 65, of Newport, passed away Monday, December 6, 2009, in Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband J. L. Valentine; son John Eugene Valentine; parents John and Maxie Ledford; and brother Alfred Ledford. She is survived by her son J. L. Valentine, Jr.; grandchildren Daniel, Bobby, and Ellen Valentine; sister Dorothy Gregg; and brother Robert "Bobby" Ledford, all of Newport. Additional survivors include nieces and nephews Amy Starnes, Terry Gregg, Buck and Lisa Gregg, and great-nieces Lori Gregg and Mackenzie Starnes, all of Newport. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2009, in Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Suggs officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. Arrangements by Costner-Maloy.
