R.C. Parks, age 70 of Newport passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, June 21, 2013 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Edith Parks and Lloyd Parks of Parrottsville. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Patsy Juanita Parks of Newport; son Tony Parks (Cindy) and daughter Colette Large Sutton (Jeff) of Newport; brothers Ray Parks of Newport, Alfred Parks (Virginia) of Colorado, Ivan Parks (Wilma) and sister Lucille Shelton of Parrottsville; grandchildren Rick Parks of Knoxville, Meagan Cutshaw, Brandon Large, Kirsten Overholt, Kamaryn, Casey, and Karissa Rogers of Newport; great-grandchildren Kaylee Large, Landyn Cutshaw, Kinleigh Large, Jaxson Cutshaw and Madison Cutshaw of Newport. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews. Per R. C.'s request, he will be cremated and placed in the family cemetery. A memorial service may be held at a later date.
