Jay N. Davis, 74, of Labadie, Missouri, formerly of Vineland, New Jersey, and Dandridge, died Saturday at his home. He had been in failing health for several years.
Mr. Davis was born in Hartford and was the son of the late John Davis and Nola Ford Smith. He had lived in Labadie, Missouri, for the past five years and prior to that had resided in Vineland, New Jersey, and Dandridge.
Prior to his retirement, due to poor health, he had been employed as an operator with Owens Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton, New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by a son, James G. Davis.
Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Kruedelbach, Ocean City, New Jersey, and Ginger Gambaro, Labadie, Missouri; three sons, John R. Davis, Sweet Valley, Pennsylvania, Charles D. Davis, Salisbury, Maryland, and Robert J. Davis, Sea Isle City, New Jersey; and seven grandchildren.
Rev. Paul D. Sprouse will conduct graveside funeral services at Centerton Free Will Baptist Cemetery, Pittsgrove Township, New Jersey, on Friday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the services. There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to American Lung Association of New Jersey, 1600 Route 22 East, Union, New Jersey 07083.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Padgett Funeral Home, Bridgeton, New Jersey.
