Curtis Wayne Woods age 52 of Cosby was called home to his Lord & Savior. He passed away Saturday November 19, 2016 at Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville, after a 5 year battle with cancer, no one fought harder than he did. He never complained, he never wanted pity, he just wanted to live each day to the fullest. Curtis retired from Bush Brothers after 26 years due to his illness. He was a son, brother, uncle, husband, a father to his furry children and a friend to everyone he met. He never met a stranger. Curtis loved life, his passions were camping, fishing, gardening, cooking and making sure everyone got plenty to eat. He loved his family most of all. He also loved his Tennessee Vols. He was a member of Allens Missionary Baptist Church. He will be missed by our whole community. He was preceded in death by his father Willie Woods, grandparents Bedford Carver, Rob & Zodenta McCarter. He is survived by his wife Patty Williams Woods of 30 years, mother and step dad Shirley & Bob Gallagher, brother & sister in law Greg & Tammy Woods, nephew Jake Woods, who he was so proud of, a special cousin/brother Scott Woods, a special uncle Donald “Duck” Carver, cousins, but more like sisters Lisa Hannah & Shea Carver, Brian Carver was also an important part in his life, he so enjoyed their conversations. A very special friend who kept his spirits up David “Round Man” Grooms. Roger Williamson was a huge part of Curtis’s life, his buddy, but more like his brother. His other family, from his wife’s side who he loved dearly, Jim & Thelma Kilgore & Steve & Gail West. He had so many, many special friends, impossible to name them all. Funeral services will be held 7:00 pm Tuesday November 22, 2016 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Large officiating. Burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday November 23, 2016 in Waters Large Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm on Tuesday before the funeral service. His pallbearers will be Richard Jenkins, Roger Williamson, Jerry “Peck” Valentine, Doug “Pee-Wee” Insco, Evert Pannell & Jimmy Dale Grooms. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the local Animal shelter or your favorite charity. Family and friends may sign the guest register on line at: www.manesfuneralhome.com.
