Henry Walker Tarwater, Sr., 89, of Watertown, New York, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at his home under the care of his family and hospice.
He was born in Sevierville, Tennessee, April 15, 1920, a son of Henry Rule and Etta Walker Tarwater. He served with the US Army, HQ Co, 42nd Engineers in Juneau, Alaska, being honorably discharged at Pine Camp, NY in 1945. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Tarwater was a member of the IBEW, Local 910, for over 60 years. He married Naomi F. Bice in 1977. She died June 9, 2004. A previous marriage ended in divorce.
Surviving is his son, Henry W. Tarwater, Jr. and his wife Yvonne, Three Mile Bay, NY; daughter, Kathleen, and her fiancé Victor Meadows, both of Watertown; step-son Michael Cassada, of Niagara Falls and step daughter, Elizabeth Cassada, of Watertown; several grand and great grandchildren.
Graveside service and inurnment will be held 10 AM Saturday, June 13th, with military honors in Tarwater Cemetery. Local arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
