LIGHTNER, EDWARD EMMANUEL, JR. (ROBERT) - age 56 of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Alexandria, VA, passed away Monday morning November 19,2001 at his home. Robert was a volunteer fire fighter, police man and rescue squad member in Bluefield, Virginia. He was a member of the FOP in Bluefield, WVA. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Wilfong Lightner. Survivors: wife, Ruth Proffitt Lightner; son, David Harwell Lightner of Knoxville; step son, Christopher Lee Borden of Knoxville; father and step mother, Edward Emmanuel Lightner Sr. (Bob) and Mary Lightner of Fredericksburg, VA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Joni Lightner of Dale City, VA, Timothy Lightner of Alexandria, VA, William and Carolyn Lightner of Manassas, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Mel Payne of Fredericksburg, VA; brother-in-law, Fred Proffitt of Lenoir City, TN; several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, VA. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Covenant Hospice, % Ft. Sanders Foundation, 1901 Clinch Ave., Knoxville, TN 37916. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the family home.
