GRAFTON Mary B. ( Barbiasz ) Kos, 93, passed away January 23, 2009 in Ware after being stricken while attending the funeral of her sister Rose Barbias. Mary had been residing at home along with her husband of 61 years Edward J. Kos. She is survived by her children, John and his wife Maureen of Ware, Barbara Wise and her husband Richard, Michael and his wife Marcia both of Grafton, five grandchildren, Alissa, Sarah, Stephanie, Lauren, Katy, one great grandson Carter, her sister in law Alice Barbiasz and several nieces and nephews. Mary was the last surviving of eight children and was predeceased by her parents John and Cecilia (Sobieraj) Barbiasz . She was born October 19, 1915 in Ware, raised there graduating from Ware schools and has lived in Grafton for 42 years. Mrs. Kos was a faithful parishioner of St. Philip's Church and enjoyed baking for the annual church Christmas fair and the friendship shared with her fellow parishioners. Mary was a quiet, unassuming lady who enjoyed a lifelong happiness with her family particularly during the holidays and at family functions. She deeply loved and was proud of her grandchildren along with her compassion and religious devotion to family and friends which will be a wonderful memory left by her. Mary also had an appreciation of natural beauty making lovely arrangements from wildflowers grown by she and her husband and she took great pride in her personal appearance. Memorial donations may be made in her name to The Grafton Food Bank, 30 Providence Rd. Grafton MA 01519 or to St. Philip's Church, 12 West St. Grafton MA 01519 in lieu of flowers.
Funeral & Calling Hours
Her funeral will be held Tuesday January 27th from The Roney Funeral Home North Chapel, 152 Worcester St. North Grafton, followed by the celebration of her Funeral Mass at 11 am in The Parish Church of St. Philip, corner of Church & West St. Grafton Center. She will then be laid to rest in the parish cemetery on Millbury St. Calling Hours are Tuesday January 27th from 9 to 10:15 am in the funeral home before the Funeral Mass.
