On Wednesday, May 27, 2009, following a short illness, Bonnie D. Allen, age 86, passed away at UT Hospital in Knoxville. Prior to her death, she lived with her loving and caring daughter and son-in-law in Parrottsville.
She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Algia (Banks) Ball. She was also preceded in death by her son Bobby Stamey; husbands John Stamey and M. O. "Shack" Allen; brother Eurice Ball, and sister Edith (Ball) Payne.
She was a member of Newport Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jim and Brenda (Stamey) Layman, Parrottsville; two most special grandsons and their wives: Scott and Macy Layman, Carson Springs; and Jonathan and Michelle Layman, Parrottsville; great-grandson: Ashton Thornton, Parrottsville; sister and brother-in-law: Frank and Deane (Ball) Smith, Newport; brother and sister-in-law: Lon and Eardean Ball, Newport.
Additional survivors include two special nephews, Ronnie Dyke and Connie Ball and wife Marsha; special great-nephew, CJ Ball, and special great-nieces: Amy Ball, Deedee Cogdill, and Jamie Dyke, all of Newport; and several other step-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 30, at Newport Church of Christ, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will follow and will be conducted by minister Tommy Golmon.
Burial will be Sunday, May 31, at 2 p.m. in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Newport Church of Christ, 245 Woodlawn Avenue, Newport, TN 37821.
