U.S. Veteran Andrew Glenmore Smith, age 87, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army. He was a member of the First United Melodist Church, Newport Rescue Squad and a member of the Newport Masonic Lodge#234. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elnora (Norie) Smith; daughter, Jensie Smith; preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Lucille Smith; brother, Neil Smith; sister, Sheila Rogers. He is survived by his sons, Steve (Linda) Smith, Jeff (Glenda) Smith; granddaughter, Kelsea Cassady; great-grandson, Samuel Cassady all of Newport; also many special friends. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice and Jefferson City Health & Rehabilitation Center and Staff also to his special caregiver Jamie Wheeler. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, September 8, 2017 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow with Chaplain Glen Bradley officiating. Burial will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday, at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cocke County Shrine Club. Family and friends may sign the guest register on line at: www.manesfuneralhome.com.
