Loy, Sylvester W. (Dub) - age 84 of Mascot went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He attended Rutledge Pike Baptist Church and was retired from Standard Knitting Mills. He was a veteran of World War II, served as a M.P., and was discharged with an Honorable Discharge. Preceded in death by parents, Renzo and Flora Loy; in-laws, Charles and Hattie Walker; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters. Survived by wife of 64 years, Dorothy; sons, Kenneth (Sue) of Oliver Springs, Sylvester, Jr. (Darlene) of Corryton, and Ray (Trudy) of Knoxville; daughter, Linda Parrott of Mascot; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Juanita Hammock; and several nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and church family. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He served as a deacon for several years and loved to help others in many different ways. He was a Jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none, but he knew the Master of the universe and is now enjoying the rewards that have been awaiting him. Funeral services will be 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Zavattieri and Rev. Glen Beeler officiating. Family and friends will meet 12:45 PM Wednesday at Eastview Memorial Gardens for a 1:00 PM interment. Military honors will be provided by East TN Veteran Honor Guard.
