US Marine Veteran and Purple Heart recipient of the Korean War. He was an active member of Gilead Baptist Church. Preceded in death by father, Charles Walker; and brother, Cecil Walker. Survived by wife, Lavonda Walker; sons, Michael Walker and wife Shelly and Danny Walker and wife Kimberly; mother, Hattie Walker; brother, Gerald Walker; sister, Dorothy Loy; grandchildren, Weston Walker, Kara Walker, Kimberly Walker, Corey Walker, Nick Ogle, Madison Walker, Tyler Lepore, and Jacob Lepore; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2009, in the chapel at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Goodson and Rev. Dave Rosser officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 AM Thursday at Eastview Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Military honors will be provided by the East TN Veteran Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jerry Walker may be made to Gilead Baptist Church, 2504 Shipe Road, Knoxville, TN 37924. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 865-523-4999.
