Guider's 80th birthday celebration Saturday
Ralph E. Guider, of Maryville, will celebrate his 80th birthday with a barbecue from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Unitia Free Holiness fellowship hall, Unitia Road, Friendsville.
He requests no gifts other than the presence of family and friends.
Mr. Guider was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Knoxville, the oldest of seven children born to the late Joe and Ada Guider. He was married to the late Barbara Jean Humphrey Guider, the mother of his children.
His family includes wife Pat, children Carl and Cheryl Guider, of Maryville, Troy Guider, of Maryville, and John and Sheila Guider, of Georgia, and stepchildren Lonnie and Kathy Neely, Pam and Kirby Evans, and Susan and Jorge Chaparro, all of Greenback. His grandchildren include Jeremy and Jennifer Guider, of Georgia, Jodi Guider, of Georgia, Sam and Abby Thomas, of Maryville, and Drew Guider, of Johnson City, and step grandchildren Travis and Leigha Neely, of Maryville, Shari Evans, of Maryville, and Jacob Neely, Kaylen and Cristina Chaparro, of Greenback. He has two great-grandchildren, Ian and Anna Guider, of Georgia.
Mr. Guider is retired from ALCOA Inc. after 35 years in the electrical department and served four years in the United States Air Force.
He enjoys fishing, camping, traveling, his church and his grandchildren.

Ralph Edwin Guider, age 86, of Maryville went to heaven on April 12, 2016. Ralph served in the US Air Force, retired as an Electrician from Alcoa and was a member of their 25-Year Club, and a member of Unitia Free Saints Holiness Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and his Church. His pride and joy were his grandchildren. Preceded in death by: Parents, Joe & Ada Guider; First Wife, Barbara Jean; Siblings, Charles Guider and Reba Finger. Survivors include: Wife, Pat Neely Guider; Sons, John (Sheila) Guider of Georgia, Carl (Cheryl) Guider of Maryville and Troy Guider of Maryville; Stepchildren, Lonnie (Kathy) Neely, Pam (Kirby) Evans, and Susan (Jorge) Chaparro, all of Greenback; Grandchildren, Jeremy Guider, Jodi (Jeremy) Daughtrey of Georgia, Abby (Sam) Thomas of Maryville, and Drew (Leslie) Guider of Johnson City; Step-Grandchildren who love their “Grampy”, Shari (Ashley) Shults, Travis (Leigha) Neely of Maryville, Jacob Neely, Kaylan Chaparro, and Cristina Chaparro all of Greenback; Great-Grandchildren, Ian & Anna Guider, and Blair Daughtrey of Georgia, Dallas & Thad Thomas of Maryville, and Caleb Guider of Johnson City; Step-Great-Grandchildren, Blake Shults and Ruby Neely of Maryville; Siblings, MaryJo (Dickie) Woods, Phyllis (Jerry) Masingo, Edith Lynn, and Jimmy (Mary Ruth) Guider; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 PM, Friday, April 15, 2016 at Smith West Chapel. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM with Rev. Don Julian and Rev. Jimmy Guider officiating.
