Betty Ann Wade, age 82, of Maryville, formerly of Strawberry Plains, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012. She was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Betty was born December 17, 1929, in New Castle, Indiana to the late Bessie Kate and Samuel Alexander Bledsoe. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and caregiver. Ms. Wade worked as a seamstress for many years and enjoyed needlework, crocheting, puzzles, and word games as hobbies until her vision became impaired. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Maxie Caledonia and Walter East Harkleroad; step-father, Thomas Kendall; loving husband, William Carl Wade, to whom Betty provided constant and loving care during his failing health; brothers, Harry R., David E. “Dick”, and James T. “Tommy” Bledsoe; and sister whom she adored, Mary Brewster. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Judy Wade and Stephen and Rhonda Wade; granddaughter, Jenna Ann Bryant and husband Joshua; grandson, Alex Russell Wade; and nieces, Betty Blakey, Deborah Rickard, and Janet Peterson, who provided much care, love, and comfort during Betty’s declining health. Special thanks to Betty’s friends at Broadway Towers who all served as caregivers in providing aid, comfort, and companionship during her time residing there. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society – Knoxville, 871 N Weisgarber Rd, Knoxville, Tennessee 37909, or the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Miller Funeral Home. Funeral service 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, with Betty’s cousin, Rev. Charlie Harkleroad officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Eastview Memorial Gardens, 1320 Andrew Johnson Hwy. Strawberry Plains, for the interment service.
