BOONE - Margaret Louise Owenby, 80, of 1173 Highland Hall Road, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Watauga Medical Center. A native of Fairview in Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Altha Jenkins Owenby and was also preceded in death by sisters, Myrtle Harper, Bernice Owenby and Faye Owenby, and brothers, Charlie Owenby and the Rev. Boyd Owenby. Surviving are nieces, Shirley Saunooke of Fairview, and Cleo Huntley of Rutherfordton sister-in-law, Irene Owenby of Fairview a number of loving great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her many dear friends and loved ones at Hi-Land Hall in Boone where she resided for the past 19 years. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, at Hi-Land Hall in Boone. The Rev. Michael Townsend will officiate. At other times, the family will be at the home of Shirley Saunooke on Number Nine Road in Fairview. Memorials may be made to Emma's Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 417 Emma's Grove Road, Fletcher, NC 28732. Austin and Barnes Funeral Home of Boone was in charge of arrangements.
