Thomas Walker Cate, 73, died Saturday, January 14 at Maryville HealthCare. Tom was a lifelong resident of Maryville and graduated from Maryville High School and Lincoln Memorial University. He practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in Mayville and Knoxville for over 40 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Cate and Evelyn Johnson Cate. Survivors include his lifelong friend and former wife, Edith White Cate; their three children, Jeff Cate of Brentwood, TN, Cathy Rogers of Dayton, KY, and Mark Cate of Brentwood, TN; his seven grandchildren, Joseph Wright, Alex Cate, Chelsea Cate, Caroline Cate, Bailey Cate, Andrew Cate and Abbie Cate; his brothers, John Cate of Maryville and Stephen Cate of Knoxville; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and other relatives. Mr. Cate will buried at a private graveside service. All family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life reception on Monday, Jan. 16 from Noon-1:30 p.m. at Smith Life Event Center, 1404 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville . Tom was a strong supporter of Blount County Habitat for Humanity and requested that donations be made to that organization in lieu of sending flowers. McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
