Paul attended New Beginnings Church in Greenback. He was a long time employee of Estes Trucking Co. earning numerous safety awards for his service and performance. A proud veteran of the US Navy having served during the Viet Nam era. He loved the outdoors, fishing and riding 4-wheelers and he loved to make people laugh. He was truly a wonderful person. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Raymond and Nadine (Raby) Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Janice (Shedd) Thompson, Vonore; children and spouses, Chris and Crystal Lickliter, Shane Thompson, Beranda and Joey Lona, Leslie and Brad Hickle, all of Knoxville; step daughters, Elizabeth and husband, Kenny Pickens, Maryville and Rebecca Arp, Madisonville; grandchildren Emmalee Lona, Matthew Lona and Elise Pickens; sister, Brenda Whitson, Maryville; several nieces, numerous friends and colleagues. Services celebrating and honoring the life of Paul Thompson will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, Jan, 15th at the First Apostolic Church, 1723 William Blount Dr. Maryville. Rev. Marcus Severance will officiate. Contributions in memory of Paul may be made to one of the following community Volunteer Fire Departments: Tri-Community, Christianburg. Loudon County, Vonore, Madisonville and Philadelphia. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.
