U.S. Veteran Sidney Earl Davis, age 86, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born February 16, 1926. Sidney was a licensed pilot and had several airplanes at different times. He loved to fly. He also loved boats and water as he had several boats big and small. He loved guns. He was in WWII on the Battleship Mississippi (BB41). He owned a plumbing business, loved children, and was a good father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Earl and Pearl Yearout Davis; children, Patricia Davis and Lisa Carol Davis; and brothers, Jack and Toby Davis. He is survived by his wife, Iva Lee “Lucy” Davis; sons and daughter-in-law, Mike E. Davis and Patrick and Sharon Davis; daughters and son-in-law, Jill Davis and Kristi and Richard Walker; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Davis; sisters, Lucille Davis and June Stanley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 7:00 PM Friday, May 11, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home Cedar Chapel, Rev. Pam Wright officiating. Family and friends will gather 11:00 AM Saturday at Logan’s Chapel Cemetery for the interment. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville, (865) 982-6041, www.millerfuneralhome.org.
