Ralph R. Fortner obituary
- [S26] Berry Funeral Home, (www.berryfuneralhome.com), Jan 121/216.
Fortner, Hazel E., of Knoxville, Tennessee died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Baptist Hospital. She was an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, having served as a Sunday School teacher and member of WMU. She was a charter member of the Lakewood Home Demonstration Club, a long time member of Bible Study Fellowship, and served as a mentor at Mt. Olive Elementary School. She was proud of having served her country during WWII through her work at Oak Ridge. She loved to read, cook, and garden. She had the gift of gracious hospitality and loved to open her home to others. No one ever went home hungry. She was a loving wife and mother, but perhaps the role she cherished the most was “Gran”. The call for “more ice cream” never went unheeded. She was greatly loved, and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Dora Emert, her sisters Grace Emert and Mildred Emert, and brother Dennis Emert.
