DAILEY , VERNON LEE - age 59 of Maryville, passed away Friday, November 4, 2005 at Blount Memorial Hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was born February 22, 1946 in Monroe County, Tennessee to Arthur Bee Dailey and Leo Grace (Cooper) Dailey . He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maryville since 1978. He accepted Christ at age 12 and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co. with 33 years of service and was a member of their 25-Year Club. He was a member of the Hall of Fame at Lanier High School for the Football and Track teams. He was an avid quail hunter, bass fisherman, and loved softball. Preceded in death by: daughter, Robin Lee Dailey parents, Arthur & Leo Dailey brothers, Raymond & Edward Dailey sister, Patsy Cook father-in-law, Roy Daniel Shields. Survivors include: wife & best friend of 40 years, Patricia Shields Dailey daughters and sons-in-law, Kari Melissa & Sam Connatser and Sophia Michelle & Michael Anderson grandchildren, Chancli & Jessica Connatser & Cabot Anderson mother-in-law, Ailene Shields of Maryville sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley & Jerry Foster of Johnson City, Joan & Bill Mitchell of Taccoa, GA brother and sister-in-law, Alvin & Shirley Dailey of Maryville brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan & Paula Shields of Clearwater, FL a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and special cousins and friends. Funeral service will be at 7:00 pm, Monday, November 7, 2005 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:30 am, Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Grandview Cemetery for the interment.
