GALYON, DONALD LEON - age 71, of Knoxville, TN died November 25, 2011 from Melanoma Metastasized Brain Cancer. Don was a graduate of Knoxville Fulton High School. Following high school he joined the United States Army spending eight years serving in Germany, Turkey, France and Vietnam. Don was a highly decorated U.S. Serviceman including The Combat Infantryman's Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, a third Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, and fifteen other commendations. After his service to our country, he attended UT, formed a masonry contracting business partnership for a short time and retired in 2001 from Knoxville Robertshaw (Invensys) after 30 years. Don loved being at home with multiple home projects, gardening, reading, woodworking, and swimming. He also enjoyed boating, Masonic interests, and touring historical museum exhibits. As a child, Don attended City View Baptist Church, later attending Oakwood Methodist Church and Washington Pike Methodist Church. Preceded in death by daughter, Leslie Lynne Galyon; parents, Kenneth P. Galyon and Mamie R. Galyon Williams; and brothers, Ray and Lynn Galyon. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Margie Pierce Galyon; daughter, Sara Galyon Paudert; and adored grandson, Andrew Thomas Paudert.
