Clabo, Gardner C. –age 90, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, August 11, 2008 at Fairpark Nursing Home, Maryville, Tennessee. Mr. Clabo was an avid genealogist and enjoyed his family history. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Retired from KCDC as a supervisor of maintenance. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Africa and Italy receiving a Purple Heart for wounds received in Italy. Preceded in death by Lucile M. Hodsden Clabo; parents, Isaac Newton Clabo and Martha Elizabeth King Clabo; stepmother, Ethel Cole Clabo; brothers, Claude and Earl Clabo and sister, Edith Clabo.
Survivors
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Ben Snider; grandchildren, Denise and Tony Chambers, Terra and J.N. Sparks, Amy and William Spencer; great-grandchildren, Erin, Ivan, and Cade Chambers and Oakley Sparks.
Service
Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery on Wednesday for 1 PM graveside services. Military honors will be presented by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gatlinburg Public Library Genealogy Department, 207 Cherokee Orchard Road, Gatlinburg, Tennessee 37738. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
