Jennie Ann Smathers, 100, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at Pisgah Manor Nursing Center in Candler.
Mrs. Smathers was born May 26, 1900, in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late James and Zennie Fletcher Netherton. She was married to Hack A. Smathers, who died in 1956. She was a practical nurse in nursing homes and residential service and was a member of Brown's View United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Homer Smathers of Candler two daughters, Genevieve Capps of Asheville and Helen Brown of Ocean City, Md. one half-sister, Savannah Smith of Candler 10 grandchildren five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown's View United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Robert E. Harris officiating.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.
