He was preceded in death by his parents, Carson and Mary Phelps ; brothers Marshall Phelps , Doyal Phelps , and Ronald Phelps ; and sister Brenda Faye Phelps . He is survived by brothers Kenneth (Pat) Phelps of Blaine and Lewis (Mildred) Phelps of Rutledge; sisters Bonnie Williams of Rutledge, Dorothy Phelps of Rutledge, and Freda (Kasey) Hern of Blaine; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and two special friends, Landie and Anna Maness. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 8:00 PM in the chapel of Smith-Reagan Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-8:00 prior to the service. Graveside services will be Friday, 2:00 p.m. August 17, 2012 at Mary's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Ryan Davenport and Rev. Ronnie Maness will be officiating.
