Services: Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Maryville 1st Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Ballard and Dr. John Sharp officiating.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary, Maryville.
Julius M. Nicely Jr., age 88, of Maryville, died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was an 80 year member and deacon at Maryville 1st Baptist Church. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army in Europe with the 1922nd ordinance co. He was retired from Alcoa after 40 years of service and was a member of the 25 year club. He was a 2004 inductee of the Blount County Wrestling Hall of Fame and a 1941 graduate of Maryville College. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.M. and Blanche Nicely; son, Philip Nicely; and sister, Betty Bingham; survived by his wife of 54 years, Christine M. Nicely; Sons and daughters-in-law, Marty and Penny Nicely of Gatlinburg, Alan and Beth Nicely of Smyrna, Ga., Rob Nicely of Chicago, Ill.; Daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mike Hatcher of Maryville; Daughter-in-law, Pat Nicely of Johnson City, Tn.; Grandchildren, Jon and Ian Nicely, Sally and Ross Nicely, Brianne, Leah, and Jordan Hatcher, Josh and Jessi Nicely; Sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Kenneth Coulter of Maryville; Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Maryville 1st Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Ballard and Dr. John Sharp officiating. Entombment will follow in Sherwood Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made to the 1st Baptist Church Family Life Center. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.
