CREEDMOOR -- Arthur Anderson Bowles, 85, former resident of Butner, died Friday, July 23, at Carver Living Center.
A native of Iredell Co., he was the son of the late John Arthur and Augusta Chambers Bowles. He was a member of Butner Baptist Church, a past master of Creedmoor Lodge 499, and a member of Butner Lodge 697, A.F. & A.M. Mr. Bowles was retired from John Umstead Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by Rev. Emmanuel Pegram. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham, with Masonic rites.
Surviving are five daughters, Carolyn McCarter and Jacqueline Wilson, both of Hertford, Audrey Cooke, of Richmond, and Jean O'Neal and Judith Yow, both of Durham; three sisters, Edna Allen and Johnsie Davis, both of Mocksville, and Hazel Thompson, of Hillsborough; a brother, Clay Bowles, of Yanceyville; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Flowers accepted or memorials may be given to Butner Baptist Church, P.O. Box 44, Butner, N.C. 27509.
Visitation 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at 2571 Barwick Dr., Durham.
