Hopson, Gladys O., age 88 of Knoxville, lost her brief battle with ovarian cancer Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Fort Sanders Hospital. She was embraced by her Heavenly Father and greeted by a host of angels on that peaceful night as they welcomed her home. Saddened by her loss, is lifetime best friend and dedicated husband of 71 years, Luke. She loved her church family and was a life member of Friendly Chapel Baptist. Preceded in death by her parents, Ewin and Maude Loope, sister, Ollie Hopson and brothers, Hollis and J C Loope.
Survivors
Her greatest joy was her family including son, Don Hopson and wife, Nancy of Sevierville, grandsons, Don II, Phillip and wife, Janet, granddaughter, Karen Kerr and husband, Jeremy, as well as great-grandchildren, Camille, Claire, Katie, Emilee and Eli; son, Larry Hopson and wife, Cindy of Maryville, grandson, Drew, granddaughter, Laura Hall and husband, Kerry as well as great-granddaughters, Abby and Ansley. Sadly missed by sister and brother-in-law, Rosella and Carl Nicely, brothers and sisters-in-law, Orville and Helen Loope, Jacky and Sandy Loope, Bobby and Barbara Loope, Imogene Loope and Lois Loope.
Service
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, February 13, 2009 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Pastor Jerry Crye and Rev. Norman Arp officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Berry Funeral Home and will proceed in procession to Sherwood Memorial Gardens for a 3:00 PM interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friendly Chapel Baptist Church in care of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee or to the American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, Tennessee 37909.
