Loope, Calvin Orville, age 84 of Knoxville, won his eternal prize the evening of Saturday, June 27, 2009 after a long struggle with declining health. He was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and by the many beloved ones who had gone before him. He was an honorable veteran of the occupation of Germany and was retired from Norfolk-Southern Railway. Although his health prevented his regular attendance, he was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, having first come to Christ at Second Methodist Church on the night before he was to be married to Helen Day.He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ewin and Maude Arnwine Loope; his sisters: Rosella Nicely, Gladys Hopson, and Ollie Belle Hopson; and his brothers, Hollis Loope and J.C. Loope. Survivors Helen was his loving wife and inseparable best friend, and they celebrated their fifty-sixth anniversary on June 5. His life with Helen gave him his son, Stephen, daughter-in-law, Susie, and grandson Ian; his son, Michael and grandsons Christopher and Tyler; all of whom find peace in knowing that their Dad and their Grandpa beholds the face of God. Calvin is also sadly missed by his surviving brothers and sisters-in-law: Jacky and Sandy Loope, Bobby and Barbara Loope, Imogene Loope, Lois Loope, Carl Nicely, Luther Hopson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Service The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 8pm with Dr. Deron Cobb officiating. Family and friends will meet at Berry Funeral Home at 10am on Wednesday and will go in procession to Sherwood Memorial Gardens for an 11am interment service.
