Maples, John Pinkney “Pink” of Knoxville gently passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009 surrounded by his family. John was born August 20, 1936 and graduated from barber college in 1953. He barbered in Happy Holler for many years. John proudly served his country in the US Army from 1954-1956. He was a member of Brickyard Baptist Church. John, known as “Pink” by many, was loved by all who met him. Preceded in death by parents, Sam and Veda Maples. He is sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife, Corkie; sons, Tim, John and Tom Maples; daughters, Teresa Poppert, Lisa Lane and Amanda Copeland; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren who loved him dearly; sister, Blanche Snyder; brothers, Vaughn, Clifford and Ken Maples; step children, Donna, Mike, Charlie and Jim. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 A.M. Tuesday at Caledonia Cemetery for a graveside service at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Fred Dearing officiating. Military Honors will be provided by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers: John Maples, Sam Pinner, Kelley Lane, Gary Copeland, Gary Henderlight and Aaron Langford.
