Martha L. Evans Pack April 10, 1936 - January 9, 2015 Martha L. Evans Pack, age 78 of Newport, died peacefully Friday morning January 9, 2015 at The Heritage Center of Morristown after a long battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. She is survived by her Son, Robert E. Pack, Jr. and his wife, Susan Ball Pack; Robert and Susan's Children, Marine Sgt. Evan R. Pack and Kaitlyn N. Pack; her Daughter, Robin Pack Conway and her husband, Thomas W. Conway, MD; her Brother Richard Evans and his wife Nancy Holt Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Pack, Sr., and her parents Samuel Reed Evans and Ada Belle Jenkins Evans and her sister Joyce Evans Humphreys. She graduated from Cocke County High School Class of 1955 and enjoyed the annual class reunions. She worked in Dr. George Clark's dental office and was a homemaker. She volunteered with the March of Dimes doing fund raising. She volunteered with the American Red Cross organizing and teaching swimming lessons every summer from @ 1964 through 1978. When her children were in high school, she was active in the Cocke County Band Boosters Club organizing and working in the concession stand and traveling on the band bus as chaperon. Martha was an active charter member of Memorial Baptist Church in Newport. She enjoyed the spiritual music at Memorial Baptist Church and was looking forward to the completion of the new church building. She was a beloved wife and mother, church member, friend to many, and will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of Martha Pack to: Memorial Baptist Church, Attention: Music Program, P O BOX 1132, Newport, TN 37822-1132 Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel. The Family will receive friends from 1 till 3 pm on Sunday, January 11 prior to the funeral service. Entombment will be at Union Cemetery in the Mausoleum on Monday, January 12 at 11 am.
