Phelps, Earl E. “Red”, age 72 of Jefferson City, formerly of South Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2007. He was a member of Talbott Christian Assembly and was retired after 37 years of service from U.S. Postal Service. He was a member and Past Master of South Knoxville Lodge # 769, Scottish Rite 32rd Degree Mason. Preceded in death by parents, Grace and Vernon Phelps; brother, Donald Phelps.
Survivors
Survived by wife of 54 years, Anna “Sue” Phelps; children; Linda and husband John Davis of Marietta, GA, Charlie and wife Jenny Phelps of Knoxville, Susan and husband Rob Allen of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Misty Meade, Carrie Gregory and Darrell Davis, Josh and Zack Phelps, Amber Gass, and Ashley Baxter; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Pearl McReynolds, Mary Anderson, and Hazel Cole; Brother, Bill Phelps.
Service
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM with the funeral service to follow at 8:00PM Thursday at the Lynnhurst Chapel with Rev. Paul Lamb officiating. Family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery at 3:30PM Friday for the interment service. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to Shrine Crippled Children’s Hospital, 1900 Richmond Road Lexington, Kentucky 40502.
