Connie Sue Overholt, age 55, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009 at her home. She was a member of Alcoa First Baptist Church. She was very active in the children’s ministries at Alcoa First Baptist Church and had been active for many years in local school sports. Preceded in death by her daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Overholt; grandparents, G.E. and Flonia Brown, and Dave and Wilma McGill. Survivors include her husband, Lonas Overholt; daughters, Sarah B. Overholt and Laura B. Overholt both of Maryville; parents, Robert and Bessie Brown of Maryville; brother and sister in law, Allen and Brenda Brown of Maryville; sister and brother in law, Pam and Kenny Talbott of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Alcoa First Baptist Church (819 Gilbert Street, Alcoa), Rev. Freeman Tomlin and Rev. Doug Sager officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Alcoa First Baptist Church. Graveside service and interment will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maryville Kiwanis Foundation, 576 Foothills Mall Drive – PMB 154, Maryville TN 37801-2308. Browns’ 60th
Robert T. and Bessie L. (McGill) Brown, of Maryville, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 18.
The couple were married Aug. 18, 1952.
Their family includes children Allen Brown, of Maryville, Pam Talbott, of Maryville, and the late Connie Overholt. They have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Brown is retired from the Knoxville News Sentinel. Mrs. Brown is employed at Regions Bank.
They attend Victory Baptist Church.
