James Steven "Steve" Newman, age 52, of Maryville, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Friday, March 1, 2013. Steve was a member of Piney Level Baptist Church and was retired from the University of Tennessee. He was an avid Bicyclist and was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, and a true friend who will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Annie Welch and James H. and Annie Newman; Mother and Father-in-law, Richard and Mary Ruth Everett; Brother-in-law, Gary Everett. Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 31 years, Sonya Newman; Son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Angela Newman, Daughter and Son-in-law, Jessica and Ronnie Long, and Son, Jordan Newman; Granddaughter, Alivia Newman; Parents, James and Wilva Newman; Sisters and Brother-in-law, Debbie and Ron Teffeteller, and Mary Newman; Sister-in-law, Carolyn Everett; Brother-in-law, Steven "Bud" Everett; Nieces and Nephews, Lori Teffeteller Scott, Kelly Teffeteller, Melissa Everett, Dustin and Natalie Gross; Many special riding buddies and a host of family and friends also survive. A Celebration of Steve's life will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. George Macht officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in Piney Level Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Steve's honor to the Maryville Christian School.
